Fun 2 year old activity!

The kids and I went to Michaels last week to pick up some paint supplies I needed for my etsy signs (would love for you to check out my new shop!) and we ended up coming across a handful of super cute bird houses for painting. When I saw those babies were 50% off I thought it would be such a fun project for Greyson! So he got to pick out his favorite one (Cost me $2!!) and we headed out since I had brushed and washable paint at home. Who doesn't love a cheap but super entertaining project that keeps your toddler busy for a good 30-45 minute!? Michaels or Joanne's really gets those creative juices flowing for me, so I love wandering around for fun new activities for the kids, so couldn't have been happier to come across this painting project. I try as much as possible to keep TV to the bare minimum and get outside to play, do crafts, play with their bazillion toys, just anything to get their minds working and not staring at a screen. So painting, although can be frightening when you have walls and carpet and furniture that paint can travel to, it's still a fun one to teach them about creativity ANNNNDDD staying in their painting zone only. :)

So this activity we used this birdhouse found at Michaels, we used our Crayola washable paints and got to painting! He did such a great job and loved getting into all the corners and switching up colors. I loved just sitting their watching him as I could tell how interested and happy he was doing this all by himself. I've found over the last year especially that he's getting more and more creative so who knows, maybe he'll be a painter one day! Or his latest obsession has been taking photos with our camera (slightly terrifying as I'm so worried he's going to drop it, but he's actually nailed some nice photos! LOL - see below!)

The finished product, our little Picasso :)

Greyson's pro photography skills of his little brother!

I look forward to doing more painting projects like this and including Jaxon once he gets a little bigger and eating the paint isn't his main priority...

Sharing all about my favorite burrito bowls and our trip to La Quinta next time!

Fashion Island - Koi Pond adventure

This weekend we decided to stroll through Fashion Island in Newport Beach with the kids, as I thought they'd love to see the Koi pond and boy was I right! Those fish are HUGE and quite frankly give me the feeling like they'd be capable of swallowing my hand if given the opportunity. So I kept a safe distance with the kids, although Jaxon continued to do his typical move where he tries to back himself into any body of water he finds...be it a pool, pond, puddle, you name it he's backing in. It was a perfect day and we got a good laugh when we walked into Victorias Secret and Greyson decided to shout "Boobies!" for all to hear. Thank god that kid is 2 as everyone thought it was cute, but we exited pretty promptly after that, lol.

I mean...look at the size of these guys!

Look who's standing on his own!

Doesn't seem he's enjoying this Gelato cone at all. Not one bit.

Hope you all are having a fantastic weekend!

Water play kinda day

Yesterday we had closer to an 80 degree day, so I gathered a couple tubs, some various scoops and funnels and we enjoyed a nice activity outside and shockingly they played around with this water activity for an hour!! Yes, a full hour of peaceful brother play...it was amazing. I feel like more times than not when i've come up with some sort of fun activity they tend to play with it shorter than the time it actually took me to put it together so when a day like today happens I'm stoked.

The big brother sabotage in action...

The aftermath...

I just loved how cute his tiny legs looked all crossed under the table...adorable!

This is a typical lunch day, Jaxon eating peacefully and Greyson off running a muck!

A big milestone that is happening at the moment is Jaxon taking his first steps! He's up to 15 steps on his own which we're so excited to see. Carrying a 25lb child around all the time really starts to kill your biceps, or lack there of... So getting him to walk will be such a relief on my arms!! But I was able to snap a really quick picture off my phone yesterday of him strolling over. Loving this stage! Can't wait though for him to solely walk as right now it's about 10% walking and the rest scurrying on his hands and knees through the house lol.

Hope you're all having a nice week and I'm looking forward to my next post about some fun Easter wood signs I'm working on to add to my Etsy shop!

Love,
Kaylin

Peanut butter chocolate ball dessert! Delicious!!

You guys...this is the best bite size dessert for any gathering, or just to hoard yourself at home...so so delicious. I started making these last Christmas for a few parties we went to and that we had at our home and in addition have made them for additional gatherings like the girls night I went to last night. So easy and and scrumptious, just make sure you have a nice cold glass of milk near by as that peanut butter really quenches your milk thirst!

So I've always coated these in milk chocolate, but if you wanted to do them for maybe a Bridal Shower or Baby Shower you could coast these in white chocolate to give them a softer look and could top them off with blue or pink sprinkles or for a bridal shower you could add edible glitter or just little edible pearls, the options are endless!

Here's the recipe, hope you enjoy!
